Heart, Joel 2:12-13 (The Voice Bible), “Eternal One: Even now, turn back your heart and rededicate yourselves to Me; Show Me your repentance by fasting, weeping, and mourning. Rip the wickedness out of your hearts; don’t just tear your clothing. Now return to the Eternal, your True God. You already know He is gracious and compassionate. He does not anger easily and maintains faithful love. He is willing to relent and not harm you.”

Too often we only want to change our outward actions instead of getting to the true root of the problem. It’s what is in our hearts (not our outward actions) that bring us down! When confronted with wrong doings or sin, the custom used to be to rip your clothing and put ashes on your head. It was an outward show of repentance. However, ripping clothing and cover with ashes never cured their problems. It just left them dirty with ripped clothing. It’s the heart that needs to be changed.

Let’s change our inward convictions so that our outward convictions will shine through the darkness!
