Love — “So I give you now a news commandment: Love each other just as much as I have loved you. For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another, everyone will know that you’re my true followers.” (John 13:34-35, The Passion Translation)

What does Jesus’ love look like? In our society, we use the word love to describe many things. But our word for love comes up short when it comes to the love of Christ. Even in the assembly of believers, where we should find His love, it’s lacking. 1 Corinthians 13 describes the attributes of love. I heard someone call them the fruits of love, but I like the word attributes better because fruit will expire but love never does!

First Corinthians 13:7 in the Mirror Bible describes some of those attributes like this, “Love is a fortress where everyone feels protected rather than exposed. Love’s persuasion is persistent. Love believes. Love never loses hope and always remains constant in contradiction.”

Many times we hear that our assemblies have become a place of discord instead of a loving fortress where the hurting can be safe! Let’s bring back the love of Christ into our lives!
