Content, Phil. 4:10-14 (The Message Bible), “I’m glad in God, far happier than you would ever guess—happy that you’re again showing such strong concern for me. Not that you ever quit praying and thinking about me. You just had no chance to show it. Actually, I don’t have a sense of needing anything personally. I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. I don’t mean that your help didn’t mean a lot to me—it did. It was a beautiful thing that you came alongside me in my troubles.”
Paul was content that Christ was enough to fulfill all his needs and wants. How about us? Have we learned to be content with what we have? Or are we always looking for more? It’s the great trap of our lives to compete with others and to fall prey to the marketing schemes of our culture. They make you feel like you have to have the newest and the best. We all suffer with this. Let us learn to be content with what we have, and not let things and wants rule us!
Can I tell you having Daddy God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit in our lives is really all we need. They will satisfy all your needs and most of your wants! And what’s great about that is they want us to abound in all things!
Be a Blessing, Sir Gregory
