Reward, Matt 6:16-18 (The Passion Translation), “When you fast, don’t look gloomy and pretend to be spiritual. They want everyone to know they’re fasting, so they appear in public looking miserable and disheveled. Believe me, they’ve already received their reward. When you fast, don’t let it be obvious, but instead, wash your face and groom yourself and realize that your Father in the secret place is the one who is watching all that you do in secret and will continue to reward you.”

Whether about fasting, prayer, or helping others, Jesus tells us to just do it without going around telling everyone what we’re doing. He wants as unto Him — an audience of One. What we do in private will eventually be rewarded in the open.

The custom this month of Lent is to fast something. That’s good; just remember to do it unto Daddy God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit in your secret place. Then watch for Them bless you openly!
