Upside-down — “So if I’m your teacher and lord and have just washed your dirty feet, then you should follow the example that I’ve set for you and wash one another’s dirty feet. Now do for each other what I have just done for you. I speak to you timeless truth: a servant is not superior to his master, and an apostle is never greater than the one who sent him. So now put into practice what I have done for you, and you will experience a life of happiness enriched with untold blessings!” (John 13:14-17, The Passion Translation)

The Kingdom of God is upside-down to the kingdoms of our world. Jesus came and said He ‘didn’t come to be served but to serve’. (Matt 20:28) Good leaders learn to serve others. Even our government was originally set up to serve the people, not for the people to serve it.

This has gotten turned around. Today, even in our churches, things are set-up for the people to serve the leadership, instead of the leadership serving the people. There is a lot of teaching which talks about being a servant; however, the leaders rarely put it into practice.

We have gotten ‘being called to the ministry’ backwards — it’s upside-down now. It’s not being called to be the head (that is Jesus’ position). It’s a calling to go low and wash others feet.

Whose feet need washed in your sphere of influence?

Be a Blessing, Sir Gregory
