Awake — “Later, He came back to His three disciples and found them all sound asleep. He awakened Peter and said to him, “Could you not stay awake with Me for even one hour? Keep alert and pray that you’ll be spared from this time of testing. Your spirit is eager enough, but your humanity is weak.” (Matthew 26:40-41, The Passion Translation)

Jesus was facing His most tragic time and the disciples couldn’t even stay awake — not just once but three times! How about us? Can we stay awake? Perhaps we can stay awake physically but what about spiritually? It seems that much of the world is walking around awake in the flesh but fast asleep in the spirit. What’s worse is that this seems to more true in the church right than in the world!

Paul reminds the Ephesians church, “Arise, you sleeper! Rise up from your coffin and the Anointed One will shine his light into you!” (Ephesians 5:14, The Passion Translation)

Let’s ask Holy Spirt to awaken us from our spiritual slumber so we may walk with Jesus into the destiny designed for us from the beginning!
