Persecuted — “How enriched you are when persecuted for doing what is right! For then you experience the realm of Heaven’s Kingdom. “How blessed you are when people insult and persecute you and speak all kinds of cruel lies about you because of your love for Me! So leap for joy—since your heavenly reward is great. For you are being rejected the same way the prophets were before you.” (Matthew 5:10-12, The Passion Translation)

Have you ever thought about rejoicing when people say all kinds of cruel and untruthful things about you? Probably not! Yet that’s the very thing Jesus tells us to do.  Not only that, but we are to forgive them and pray for them — not just once but maybe even 70 times 7. It’s not in our earthly nature to forgive and pray for those you hurt us. However, our spiritual nature is not of this earthly realm! We have a new nature, and it’s a Heavenly one.

You might say, “He’s talking about prophets.” It’s true we are not all prophets, but the greatest prophet of all time lives within you! So go ahead and rejoice when people think and say evil, untruthful things about you! They do that because you are stirring up and defeating darkness.

Who do you need to forgive today?
