Reward, 1 Cor 9:17-18 (The Passion Translation), “If it were my own idea to preach as a way to make a living, I would expect to be paid. Since it’s not my idea but God’s, who commissioned me, I am entrusted with the stewardship of the gospel whether or not I’m paid. So then, where is my reward? It is found in continually depositing the good news into people’s hearts, without obligation, free of charge, and not insisting on my rights to be financially supported.”

Many have made sharing the gospel a career instead of a calling. This is where the pollution of the gospel began. Instead of serving others, we instituted a hierarchy in the church. A burden was then placed on the congregation to support the institution and the individuals at the top. I’m not saying it’s wrong to support those in occupational ministry, but when their career becomes more important serving, their calling get’s mixed with pride, fear of lack, and greed for more. This where mixture and compromise sneak in.

Our greatest reward is seeing others set free from the bondage of a life without Christ! Let’s keep our priorities straight.

Be a Blessing, Sir Gregory
