Motives, Matt 6:1-4 (The Passion Translation), “Examine your motives to make sure you’re not showing off when you do your good deeds, only to be admired by others; otherwise, you will lose the reward of your heavenly Father. So when you give to the poor, don’t announce it and make a show of it just to be seen by people, like the hypocrites in the streets and in the marketplace. They’ve already received their reward! But when you demonstrate generosity, do it with pure motives and without drawing attention to yourself. Give secretly and your Father, who sees all you do, will reward you openly.”

Do we give because we want to be seen or because we feel that’s what we’re supposed to do? Giving is a get-to and not a have-to. We give because someone gave to us. We don’t give to be showy. Giving (whether it be financially, with material items, time, or with simply our affection) comes from a heart of love!

Let your giving come from a heart of abundance, not from an attitude of lack or an obligation to give. Remember, Jesus gave because of His love for us!

Be a Blessing, Sir Gregory
